Plan Your Visit

At Hemker Park & Zoo, the animals are only half the fun.

We’ve designed the park to be as family friendly as possible, making it a great place for informal picnics, birthday parties, family reunions, weddings, workplace gatherings, and other celebrations. You can bring a packed lunch or take advantage of food and drinks available on site. There are shaded picnic tables as well as a huge undercover eating area, suitable for small and large groups alike. Toilet facilities are provided.

Families can pose for a picture at one of the zoo's many colorful face boards, and the gift shop is stocked with mementos so everyone can go home with a souvenir by which to remember their visit. The giant play set is a big favorite with kids, while the large grassed areas also give energetic youngsters plenty of space in which to be active.
